Drunken Orange Cranberry Sauce*
 
 
Cranberries and oranges are a true match made in heaven. Here is a nice bright twist on an old favorite.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups fresh cranberries, picked through and rinsed
  • 1¾ cup raw or granulated sugar
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup Triple Sec liquor (an orange liqueur)
  • zest of 1-2 oranges, finely grated
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, freshly grated, or a small pinch of dry ginger, ground
Instructions
  1. Bring the cranberries, sugar, water, ginger, orange juice, zest and Triple Sec to a boil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Some berries will have popped and some will be whole. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Cover and let stand for 10 minutes. Let the sauce cool to room temperature and then cover and refrigerate.
  2. You can double this recipe for a crowd.
