Issue number:9

Fall is definitely in the air, even in Florida! We have had a cold front with temperatures dropping to the 60's and 70's...lol ! I am from upstate New York so I know what a real cold front is like. But when you are accustomed to 80 degrees plus, you definitely feel like fall or winter is in the air, even if for a moment.

I was so inspired by the slight chill in the air this week that I developed a new white chili recipe that I am testing today. I will post it to the site soon. I will also be bringing you some of my Thanksgiving recipes over the next 10 days.

The D&K Weekly E-Newsletter will be shorter from now on. I am very passionate about health and giving you great tips; however, I am looking forward to bringing you terrific recipes and creating more for you on the site, including cooking videos.

This will free up my time a bit more so that I can supercharge this site with great recipes and a soon-to- be-released Top Secret Recipe Vault

plus a Platinum Menu of the Week Club within a couple of weeks!

So please enjoy this short but sweet E-Newsletter and look forward to lots of good things to come here at Delicious and Kosher

The recipe for the smoothie below is so decadent and festive, yet healthy.

When you desire something sweet, or have a big meal coming up and want to get a good dose of protein and nutrients to keep you from over indulging in the festivities, this is a terrific and satisfying choice!

Enjoy year round, but especially on or around Thanksgiving/Chanukah, etc

Warm regards,

Karen

Karen is a stay- at- home mother of five and an entrepreneur who has had a passion for cooking since childhood.? For Karen cooking is like a sixth sense, much like those with an ear for music can pick up and play an instrument without knowing the notes? The inspiration of her mother's and grandparents' creative and talented cooking helped form the foundation for her passion for cooking.

From the first falafel she tasted from an Israeli cook, to the lessons from gourmet Italian home cooks and restaurant chefs, to days spent learning from her friend's mom about Hong Kong cuisine, to trips to Chinatown and living in Israel, to mastering the art of Persian cooking after marrying her Iranian husband, to lessons from gourmet Moroccan friends in Boca Raton, Karen lives and learns from every culture and is excited to share that wisdom with you.

Karen and her family decided to live an observant modern orthodox Jewish lifestyle 15 years ago. She now transforms her favorite American and international non-kosher dishes into delicious kosher fare.

After college she served in the Israel Defense Forces, married, and now devotes her life to her family, friends, faith, and love of cooking while running a thriving health and wellness business from home. Karen has taught kosher cooking classes for the past 10 years in Boca Raton with her friends, Lauren Bakst, a gourmet cook, and Lowil Stoller, a pastry chef.

Karen's recipes were featured at a dinner honoring the best chefs of the capital district hosted by the Marriot Hotel in Albany, New York. She has catered affairs up to 350 people including the Maimonides Medical Society annual dinner for over 100 Physicians at the Albany Medical Center Hospital.

She is presently working on her upcoming book, Delicious and Kosher, and is founder of the Delicious and Kosher website.

This week I tested one of my newer recipes for white chili in my new Breville slow cooker. What differentiates this from other slow cookers?

A couple of things: larger than most, 7 quarts; both handles and lids are silicone-lined for heat protection.

It is non-stick for easier clean up, especially when making cholent. The non-stick coating is PFOA FREE, non-toxic.

It has a manual switch that will not shut off automatically which makes it appropriate for Shabbat cooking.

It even has a removable pot that you can place on the stove for easy searing and saut¨¦ing all in one pot prior to slow cooking!!
